Autism recovered?

Medical experts say it's not possible to recover autism. We have living proof in the form of three children, that it IS possible. In my blog you will find recovery stories, along with information regarding health that I have learned over the years. And sometimes just snippets of life to give hope that yes, life can be normal after the hard work is done.

Sit back, enjoy, and be hopeful! RECOVERY HAPPENS!

I believe in fairies

Today we had sausage and cabbage for lunch. Tony & Grace love this meal, Kate loves the sausage. ;) I was on the phone during lunch and distracted. When I got off, I noticed she had eaten all the sausage but had a bowl full of cabbage. I reminded her to eat her food and that I would give her more sausage if she finished her cabbage (bribery is good). The following conversation transpired:

Kate: I can't eat my cabbage Mommy. The fairies are sleeping on it.
Me: I don't see them.
Kate: They're invisible.
Me: It's ok, they'll wake up and fly away when you touch it.
Kate: But mommy, they're TRAPPED there by bad people. They'll die if I eat them!
Me: Alright. *waves hands magically over food* I set them free. Now eat your food.

We're big fans of fairies here as you can see by the garden we keep for them.

Tony thinks Daddy & I used to be dragons (thanks to Bryan Davis). We're quite magical here but I'm not making a dragon garden.

  1. I found your blog through Cyn at http://www.climbinguptheslide.com and just love it! What a great idea having a fairy garden, my girls would just love something like that. :)

I look forward to reading more about your life with recovered autsim and food allergies. My mother-in-law has lots of food allergies (she can't even drink tap water or anything cooked in tap water) and has helped me see what a difference it makes to the kids behaviour when you consider the type of food that they eat.

  2. Hiya Janice! So glad to "meet" you.

Yes, fairy gardens are absolutely wonderful! Grace really does believe in fairies and I'm ok with that. lol I highly recommend you start one; it's fun to see the kids faces light up when we get new things to put in them. They imagine all sorts of activities for the fairies and my son even built a hammock for them once. During the summer, we give Kate an outdoor one to actually play in but she has to stay out of the indoor one or she destroys it pretty quickly.

I hate to hear that about your MIL! That is one terrible allergy! I wonder if she's allergic to the chlorine in the water or some other chemical that gets through the usual filters... I'm so sorry she has to go through that. But all things eventually lead to a lesson don't they? If only the lessons were easier. :)
